Yvonne Burton is president and principal consultant of Burton Consulting International, a New York/tri-state based consulting firm delivering a range of services including Technology Consulting, Business Communications courses and Cross-Cultural Training to companies operating in the Japanese market and to Japanese firms operating internationally.

Yvonne gained first-hand experience of Japanese language and culture while living in Japan for over nine years, first while attending Kansai Gaikokugo Daigaku University in Osaka, Japan as an exchange student and then as she worked in education, as a cross-cultural trainer and business consultant to several Japanese firms in the fields of Importing/Exporting, Finance, Retail and Manufacturing. Yvonne assisted Japanese clients in doing business more effectively internationally as well as writing collateral materials and initiated procedures to increase overseas customers and sales.

Upon returning to New York City, she worked in the Technology field in the areas of marketing and business development for a web development firm, online marketing and advertising for the largest online job site where she designed and implemented sponsorship campaigns for financial, recruiting, and automotive clients. She has worked as a business/solutions analyst for a leading technology consulting firm specializing in customized software solutions for the pharmaceutical industry and for a large patent based search software.

As a bridge between two cultures, she uses her cross-cultural background to effectively facilitate and work on projects across industries including: Market Research and Analysis for a new division of large Japanese trading company entering a new market in the U.S.; Cross-Cultural Communications training for U.S. and Japanese business professionals; assisting a financial software firm in customizing its product for the Japanese market; working with a large medical software and equipment manufacturer’s IT division in the U.S. to plan customized upgrades to their sales/order management system for their office in Japan; and managing the export process for a chemical products manufacturer entering the Japanese market.

She is currently focused on technology solutions analysis and business communication services for her clients.

As an outgrowth of her consulting experiences and the challenges and changes in the Japanese market, she founded and is principal writer of JapanUSbusinessnews.com, an online forum for ‘practical news’, information and sharing for the Japan -US business community soon to be relaunched.

Ms. Burton holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Economics from State University of New York, College at Brockport and an Asian Studies Certificate from the Asian Studies Program at Kansai Gaikokugo Daigaku University in Osaka, Japan.
